COME THE DARKNESS is a sweeping Gothic musical about love and power, freedom and sacrifice, and the choices that define our humanity.

High in the mountains of 19th-century Eastern Europe, revolution is in the air. The Church has freed the Roma people it once enslaved, but the nobility refuses to relinquish its power. Mirela, a fiercely courageous young Roma woman, escapes from bondage and journeys to Bran Castle in search of her mother—a legendary voice of resistance who vanished years before.

At the castle, Mirela encounters Vladimir, its young, idealistic Count. Recently returned from Europe, Vladimir has inherited both his family’s power and its shameful legacy of slavery. But he is fighting another battle: deceived into drinking vampire blood from Chernobog’s Cup by the seductive Countess Carmilla, he is slowly losing his mortality. With each passing night, he is drawn closer to eternal darkness—and more completely under Carmilla’s control.

As Mirela and Vladimir are drawn together, each becomes essential to the other’s liberation. Mirela challenges Vladimir to defy his ancestors and free the Roma people; Vladimir offers Mirela protection and the possibility of a love neither expected. But Carmilla intends to claim Vladimir, seize Bran Castle, and reign in darkness forever.

As the longest night of the year descends and Bran Castle prepares for its intoxicating Winter Solstice Festival, desire becomes destiny and revolution moves ever closer. Mirela must embrace the future revealed within the Crystal Ball, while Vladimir must choose between the immortality of darkness and a love that may demand the ultimate sacrifice.
